Bean Bag Bazaar

Forget every little thing you think you know about bean bags

Everybody over the age of 25 can most likely recall owning a beanbag when they were younger. A large badly stitched fabric sack filled with polystyrene beads. In fact, most memories probably involve being forced to tidy up the beads when the bag split for the hundredth time – at least that’s how I remember it. However, times have changed and the bean bag is experiencing a resurgence in popularity – and it’s not just down to nostalgia – beneath those initial manufacturing problems there is a wonderful product.

Sofas are great. That’s why they feature in 99.99% of homes. They give a large amount of seating space yet still look great. They served our needs and we responded to that. Even so, as our interests have changed and we find ourselves making use of games consoles and computers a lot more than ever before – we’re finding that conventional seating just doesn’t cut it.

Certain, if you’re in an office environment and you’ve got a nice ergonomic pc desk – a nicely designed computer chair will probably be your best bet – but in a casual environment you’ll likely need something a little more adaptable. Up steps the beanbag.

Beanbags have come a long way since the 1960s and 70s. Improvements in manufacturing techniques have led to much better developed products that are well made and long-lasting. The basic “bag” shape has been completely rethought with new shapes and styles developed to suit a variety of applications. Gamer beanbags, outdoor bean bags and even bean bags for dogs – the possibilities are endless.

More recently, manufacturers have started producing full suites of “furniture” beanbags which contain Sofas, Arm Chairs and Footstools – perfect for family rooms, student digs or bedrooms.

So, forget everything you thought you knew about bean bags and take a fresh look at this most versatile of seating types. You won’t regret it.
